Crying when you’re happy. That’s so human.
Hmm yeah, his human fetish he didn’t used to have when he was 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… I mean, he seems to fanboy humans, (and have the same troubled relationship with humans that fans have with their objects of obsession — kind of like me right here) but never gave the impression he want to do more than cosplay a human. Now they’ve got him doing this Data impression (not that he isn’t doing the *cri am i happy or sad happy! cri* thing really well here) of “must learn human emotions” that doesn’t fit any concept of the Doctor the show ever had. The Doctor was not an emotionless Vulcan or android that needed to “learn emotions” from humans the perfect teachers (why humans? why not some other aliens?) so I don’t know what they’re getting at here. Unless it’s some sort of thing where he’s been afraid that he’s losing his ability to care about things because dreary concept is dreary. Though actually, the Doctor actually properly confronting his quite understandable depression and PTSD would be an interesting episode but we’re not going to see that except very, very disguised because I don’t know.
